Photoaging is caused, as the name implies, by sun exposure. Over time, brown spots, wrinkles and yellow discolorations occur which in dermatologic terms equate to lentigines, rhytids and solar elastosis.

In office treatments include chemical peels and laser resurfacing, as well as injectables such as botulinum toxins and hyaluronic acid fillers. If the patient also has pre-cancerous changes such as actinic keratosis, Dr. Macrene prescribes cryotherapy, topical 5-fluorouracil or photodynamic therapy.
