Five Important Tips for Taking Care of Your Skin After Cosmetic Procedures

Avoid Touching
The most important thing is to refrain from touching the injection sites, as doing so could cause the filler to migrate. “You need to give the filler time to set and heal,” says Dr. Macrene. “So that means no trips to the hair salon for at least a week, and be sure to sleep on your back for the first couple of days.”

Eliminate Alcohol
Alcohol can dilate blood vessels, even a small amount like a glass of wine or a shot of hard alcohol can increase your risk for bruising after filler treatments. Fortunately, the vasodilating effects of alcohol are short-lived. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after treatment to reduce your risk of bruising at injection area.

Use Sun Protection
The skin becomes more sensitive to the sun after a laser treatment. Therefore, it is crucial to apply sunscreen or use sun protection after procedures. Dr. Macrene recommends using sun avoidance, sun-protective clothing, and SPF or sun protection products with physical blockers and natural reflectors, such as the High Performance Tinted Moisturizer and Concealer.

Cleanse Gently
Wash with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser like the High Performance Cleanser. Dr. Macrene formulated it with barrier repairing plant actives and three vitamin Bs, including niacinamide and biotin to regulate sebum production and treat blemishes. Organic olive and aloe leaf extracts help soothe and calm infected or red skin.

Invest in Active Ingredients
As for your daily skincare routine, Dr. Macrene strongly recommends investing in active ingredients, since they continue to work with the skin to prolong the results of in-office treatments. It’s the same as brushing your teeth, says Dr. Macrene. I think everyone would agree that it’s something that needs to be done consistently every single day. And yet there are people out there who just don’t believe in practicing that same consistency with their skincare routine. They think showing up to my office once or twice a year is enough, but that’s just not the case. Also, the earlier you start, the younger you'll stay. Use a dermatologist-approved moisturizer that contains potent active ingredients and aids in skin restoration to speed up healing and prevent infection. Dr. Macrene sourced everything your skin needs in a One Step Skincare Solution® — High Performance Face Cream.
