DR. MACRENE ALEXIADES, M.D, PH.D. DERM-SCIENTIST

Macrene Alexiades, MD PhD FAAD holds three degrees from Harvard University: a BA from Harvard University, MD from Harvard Medical School, and a PhD in Genetics from Harvard University. She was a Fulbright Scholar with a research award year in Europe. 

At Harvard, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and awarded the Fay Prize, the highest undergraduate honor; at Harvard Medical School, she was honored in the Dean’s Report and received the Paul Dudley White Award. At Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Science, she was awarded grants from the National Institutes of Health, National Eye Institute and Radcliffe College. As a dermatology resident at New York University School of Medicine, she served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Husik Prize for her dermatologic research. She has been honored in Who's Who, the People's Choice Awards, Cosmetic Executive Women, and voted #1 Dermatologist in the USA by Aesthetic Everything. She has been named as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2014. Dr Macrene received Who's Who Lifetime Achievement Award, Industry Leaders and American Women Award, Exceptional Women in Medicine, and New York Magazine's Top Doctors.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. She has achieved the rare status of Double Board-Certification in Dermatology in the European Union as well as the US; as one of 6 among 1200 who passed both medicine and surgery boards in Greece, she is certified to practice medicine, surgery and dermatology in the EU. 

She is the Assistant Editor of the journal Dermatologic Surgery. She is Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, and Reviewer for theJAMA Dermatology, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, Journal of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, Cosmetic Dermatology, Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy, Journal of Photobiology and Photomedicine and the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, among others.

She serves on the board of ASLMS, the Pan-American Photodynamic Therapy Association, Vice President of the Board of the Promenade Condominium, Board of the William Woodward School, the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Aesthetic Buyers Guide, Candela Lasers, and Cutera Lasers.  She has served as Chair of Research for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, author of her own Laser and Cosmetic News column for the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, and biographed in Who’s Who.  She is the ASLMS representative to the Laser Institute of America.
